Where Should I Go?

On Saturday I went shopping to find a dress to wear to my son's wedding. We went to Bridal Shoppes, Kohls, and every store possible in the mall. UGGHH! I learned one thing...do not say you want to look at their "Mother of the Bride" dresses. They are usually FULL of beading, baggy, and have big jackets. I refuse those. I am not ready to wear that kind of a dress. I may have a 22 year old son but darn it....I am still young! (kind of) In the other stores we went to your choices are: Strapless or spaghetti straps (which I don't like),Prom dresses, business suits like, sleezy, or black. I don't wear black. Am I just too picky?

I came home and started searching online. After about 2 hours I found the dress above. That's it!!! Perfect color, perfect sleeve length, and fitted not baggy. There's a few problems though. They said it can take from 4-6 weeks to get it. (the wedding is 6 weeks away) Also, the biggest issue.....it is way way out of my price range.

Help! Where can I find a dress like this?

  1. I don't know if you would be able to find a seamstress who could make it for you or not. My mom got both of her "Mother of the Bride" dresses at a boutique here where we live (she got a good deal). Best of luck, it's a beautiful dress!

  3. Oh I hear ya, MOTB dresses are nasty! I wouldn't let my mom wear any when my brother was getting married... not that she would have gone for any of that beading and nastyness herself anyway... Too bad you can't find it in a bridal shop off the rack. Sometimes they have those. Good luck with this- hope you find it soon!

(Oh, and I've never been to Paris, and always wanted to go too... and I love your new look!)

  4. I have the perfect MOTB dress that you could borrow if you liked black and you were a size 4..... don't worry I was only that size for about 6 weeks, it was a very stressfull time in my life (first wedding and a grandbaby that I had 20 minutes to prepare for). I ate myself right back up to my normal size :)

But I got mine at JCPenny, they had lots to chose from and it was just a normal dress not a MOTB. (6 years ago) It was fitted with little cap sleeves and then a fitted jacket with one bling button, lined with tiny bling on the seam opening of the jacket. I found Elaine's MOTB dress at a garage sale that was perfect for her and a perfect little price. I'll keep my eyes open and call you if I find something.

    Good luck

  9. I would go to a place like David's Bridal and ask to to see their casual on the rack bridesmaid dresses. You would find dresses like this that you can get right away (giving you time for fittings), and you can get out the door for about $100.

You could also try an outlet?

    Good luck!
