A Strange Thanksgiving

Here's our Thanksgiving picture for 2009. I never noticed how much bigger my head is than Brian's before.

Here's the scoop. For the first time in the 27 years we've been married, Brian had to work over Thanksgiving. :-( Very sad for both of us. So instead of staying home alone pouting and eating a bowl of cereal, our bestest friends invited me over to their big feast. My sister Patti was also a leftover misfit and came over. Thank goodness for great friends who will go through the trouble of cooking a wonderful Thanksgiving meal, just for the misfits in the neighborhood.

Kylee spent time with Brian too.

Andy was also working this year. He was actually flying home at the time this was taken. We picked him up at the airport later that night.

And of course since Andy couldn't make it, Casey spent her holiday with her family. We missed them all sooooo much!

Kylee was having a blast with this. When she sat down at the table we had to put Casey and Andy on the chair next to her.

And one last pose with Brian at the table.

20 20 Can I Hear 20?

I know I may be a little bias, but isn't this the cutest picture ever? I am really getting into applying layers in Photoshop. I think I need to learn something new. Anyone out there have PSE7? What is your favorite technique you use?

I also wanted to share where I got the adorable purple hat she is wearing. I found it on Etsy at Monkey and Me. She has the most adorable hats there.

And the last thing I wanted to share has to do with the title of this post. Ok ladies I have been blogging my guts out for just over a year. I have made many new bloggy friends that I totally enjoy reading your blogs. But here's the deal...........

Why can't I hit 20 comments??

So there is no contest, no giveaway, no specific reason except to make my day. If you are reading this can you please just comment something? Come on here, throw me a bone, make my day. Something? Anything?

It Is Time

Does everybody see this face? This is the face and the reason why I love being a mommy so much. Over the past 12 weeks, I have been substitute teaching for one of my good friends while she has been on maternity leave. I am happy to say that that experience is now over, and I can now get back to my life as a stay-at-home mommy. I could not be any happier. I now know that after going through the past 12 weeks, God wants me to be a mommy first. It was a very trying time for me, but I grew to appreciate the times that I had with my monkey girl. All I can say is, "Thank you God for the experience but thank you even more for giving me back to my daughter." Also, I wanted to take time to thank my mom for doing such a wonderful job teaching, loving and spoiling my baby while I have been working. I can not thank you enough.
I love you mom!

A Desperate Attempt

I've really been having a hard time the last couple weeks coming up with blogging material. It's not that there isn't anything going on around here. I have actually been pretty busy but when I sit down to post to my blog......my mind goes blank. Frustrating!

In the past few weeks as I've been reading all the posts of my bloggy friends, I've noticed a lot of pictures of kids in leaves. Since I don't have any small children to take pictures of in leaves, I came up with this photo. This is me and my little sister (and some cat). I remember we had lots of leaves in our yard on the farm, but we never had to rake them up, blow them around, or put them on the road for pick up. They were left there to rot over the winter and be mowed up in the spring. I'm glad I still live out in the country where we don't have to do all that raking and picking up the leaves. I think they are pretty right where they are.

Well there you have it. A desperate post that really has no meaning at all. Sorry to put you through that! I will try to come up with something a little more creative next time. Hopefully it won't be a month from now.

Flashback Friday

In honor of Veterans Day this week I am posting a picture of my Dad when he was in the Army. I am not sure of the year when this was taken.

Isn't he a handsome guy?

Alice Must be on Strike!

Yikes! Where did THAT come from? My hubby noticed it and it was so nice of him to take a picture for me. How can I miss something like this? I think the spider just came in overnight and made this. There's no way I could have just not looked back in the corner, behind the end table, in the dark to see this.

I think I need myself an "Alice"

A Rough Week

For those of you who don't know Kylee let me share her with you.

A few years ago we had some new neighbors build a house close to us. Our daughter became friends with them and ended up taking care of their brand new baby when her mom went back to work. Tracy was still living at home so of course we got to know that little baby pretty well. That fall Tracy had to go back to college and Kylee was going to a public daycare. Oh No she wasn't, not if I could help it! We fell in love with that baby and couldn't let her go. Our kids are grown and I stayed at home. A perfect match. She has been in our lives ever since. Brian and I are her Godparents, which is a great honor. Kylee is like our third child, just many years later. (our youngest is 23)
On to this past week. Last week Kylee was very sick and ended up with pneumonia. While she was trying to get better her Grandpa got sicker. He passed away on Thursday. She loved her Grandpa Willie. The funeral was yesterday and today it is "back to normal." I will be taking her to preschool in a few hours and hopefully she can get right back in to it. She hasn't been there for a week. You can check out Kylee's blog to see more pictures of her and her family.

If you have a moment, please pray for Kylee and her family.

Me and My Girls

On the left: Kylee that I daycare for. On the right: Felicity my granddaughter.

Why is it so tough to get a couple kids to both smile at the camera? By the looks of this I guess I wasn't looking either.

Still not smiling. Sidenote: Notice the locks on the cupboards behind us? That little one is a bit curious.

Getting better. Felicity still doesn't want to look.

Oh well, this is the best we are going to get today...... Have a great weekend.

Flashback Friday

This photo was taken the day my brother and I were baptized. I'm not sure of the year but I think I look about 3, that makes it around 1966. I'm sure these were our Sunday best clothes. What's with my short short bangs? Love the bow tie!

By the way, Kylee is feeling much better. :-)

Our Ray of Sunshine on This Cloudy Day

Today has been a pretty quiet day. Just the two of us playing, eating, and sleeping. We are both feeling really good now. I only had a slight fever yesterday morning and have been great ever since. Thank goodness all of this has stayed clear of Felicity so far.

Yesterday was a different story. Kylee woke up with a fever of 103. I called her mom and we took her to the clinic. (I daycare for Kylee) They never actually diagnosed her with H1N1 but she listed off the symptoms and that is exactly what Kylee had. I don't know if they don't want people to panic or what the deal is. The worst part was her coughing. The doctor listened to her lungs and she has the start of pneumonia in her right lung. Yuck! She put her on antibiotics and said if she is not better in 3 days that she must come back. She slept through the night but is home with her Mom & Dad today. We pray that the antibiotics knock that out of her lung so she can get well.

Our Little Monkey

I know this is a little late for a Halloween post but I've not been in a blogging mood the last few days. Kylee has been fighting a fever since Friday. I have been a little off. This morning when I got up I had a fever of 100.2, took some Tylenol and now I am good again. We are not sure of the signs of that Piggy flu. I've heard so many different sides to it, who do you believe? Is there anyone out there that was actually diagnosed with it, and what were your symptoms?

Our city celebrated Halloween on Sunday with a parade and trick or treating. Felicity was so darn cute in her monkey costume. This is the kind of costume the kids have to wear here in Wisconsin for Halloween. None of those cute skimpy little outfits. Why do they even sell those in the stores around here? You know you're from Wisconsin when..............you shop for a costume that you can fit a snowsuit under it! Don't let this picture fool you, it was only in the 40s and windy.

Sprinkler Fun

What do we do on hot summer days without a pool?  We get out the sprinkler and have some fun!         ...
