Happy Birthday Bruce & Shelby

This is my oldest brother Bruce when he was a baby. I love these old baby pictures. Did they use Photoshop back then to get this effect? Now we take full color pictures and try to make them look like this.

Happy Birthday Bruce

Brian's sister Shelby share the same birthday. We were actually friends before Brian and I met. Thank goodness we were friends so I could meet him. That was a long long time ago. 31 years ago to be exact.

Flashback Friday

I came across this picture of Andy when he was younger. He loved sitting in his Dad's big rig and pretending to drive. He went with him on the road for many years as a young boy and through his teen age years.

Then look what happened! Should I be surprised that he started driving his own semi a couple months ago? How does this happen? Who gave him permission to get all grown up and all?

Pencil Sketch

I have been trying to figure out all that PE7 can do. I am finding that I am an extreme beginner when it comes to Photoshop. I took Connie's tutorial and tried it myself. She had to email me the "exact" instructions. I for sure have to take another class. I am a Photoshop user wannabe.

Reality Check

I just read a post that my niece wrote today. Wow, it really makes me thankful for all those men and women across the big water. It is a big reality check for me. Read it here.

Photoshop Collage

I hit the Photoshop help section today. I have always wanted to learn how to make a collage. It was pretty easy, but now I need to learn more. I'm stubborn that way.

Weekly Blog Hop - Favorite Kid Photo

This weeks blog hop we are to share our favorite kid photo. Since I couldn't pick just one, here are both our kids when they were little. Tracy on the left (now 24) and Andy on the right (now 22.) Time sure flies. Treasure every moment when they are little.

Big First Birthday Party

Felicity had her first birthday party yesterday. Here she is with Daddy and Mommy. She didn't know what to think about all the people looking at her and taking pictures. She should be used to the cameras, we take a lot of pictures everyday.

This little cake was made special for her to eat by herself. (It was pretty big even for that)

Her cake was absolutely adorable. It looked like it wasn't real.

When she first got her cake, she just picked at it. She wasn't really sure what to do with it.

Then she stuck a couple fingers in.

Then she got the hang of it.

Yummy.

Opening presents with Daddy.

What a great day we had. Happy Birthday Angel.

Friends not Forgotten

I had breakfast with a friend, Jackie, that I haven't seen for quite some time. Isn't it amazing how you can pick up right where you left off? That's true friends in my book.

How about it Andy and Casey?

Flashback Friday

I think maybe little girls wished they didn't have so much hair for adults to do this to them....

What year was this Julee?

Two Men and a Baby

Here's another picture from the big birthday. After eating all that cake, you all know what a one year old looks like. Of course all of her clothes had to come off for a bath. Uncle Andy and Grandpa are trying their best to clean her up. She doesn't look impressed.

Brian and Felicity's Birthday

I can't believe I didn't get a better picture of "the birthday kids" together. I guess sometimes a person just gets too busy at a party. The cake was delicious, as you can tell by the looks on both of their faces.

Joni (Felicity's Godmother) came over to see her on her birthday.

She brought her this tutu skirt that Felicity wore the rest of the day. It was so adorable.

You can only get away with this when you are one.

Then it was cake time. First a picture of her "birthday plate" when it was still clean.

Then we let her have her cake, and eat it too.

After the cake episode she took a bath. She came back out to the porch and took a liking to Chris. Now anyone who knows Felicity knows that she is a girl on the go. She doesn't sit on your lap for more than 2 or 3 seconds. She layed on Chris' shoulder like this for about 5 minutes! We were all jealous. Chris isn't the biggest "kid" person but I think deep down he kind of liked it too.

Weekly Blog Hop - Favorite Recipe

Most people call these cookies "No Bake Cookies." Growing up at our house, a dairy farm in Wisconsin, they are called "Oatmeal Fudgies." With 5 older brothers it was tough to get a taste of these gooey delights. Once I was grown and got my own place I could make them and eat as many as I want! I have been known to eat almost the whole batch. The belly-ache after isn't so great. Make them today, but make sure you hide a few for yourself.

Oatmeal Fudgies

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes)
1/2 cup milk

Boil these three ingredients until the sugar dissolves.

Add:
3 cups oatmeal (I use instant)
1 cup coconut
4 T cocoa
1 t vanilla

Mix well, eat many.

Happy Birthday Brian & Felicity

Happy Birthday to Brian and Felicity. What are the chances that she would be born almost three weeks late, just to share her birthday with her Grandpa. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. The past year has gone so fast. Here are a couple pictures of them sharing a root beer float. I think she ate almost as much as Grandpa did. Happy Birthday to you both.

Welcome Rain

It has been raining on and off for the last couple days. It is wonderful. Our lawn was beginning to turn brown. The only nice thing about that is we don't have to mow every 3 or 4 days. But we'll take the rain and the plush green lawn instead of the brown picky one. We haven't really had summer yet, just a few days a couple weeks ago. Today it is only 56 degrees the last that I looked. BRRRRRR.

The rain filled up my crock on the back patio. My flowers will love that this week. Do you know what these crocks sell for at antique stores? I found a 20 and they wanted $275.00 for it! That is crazy. This 25 is pretty big and just perfect for catching the rain water for my plants. Some antique dealer somewhere would love to get their hands on this one. They can't have it, it's mine. That is an old minnow bucket sitting next to it. That's what I use to water my flowers with. Nothing fancy here. Enjoy the rain.

Sprinkler Fun

What do we do on hot summer days without a pool?  We get out the sprinkler and have some fun!         ...
