First Night on the Ship

Here we are at the beginning of the trip. Brian and Jim were taking the pictures, so they are not in this one. I know I said I would wait a couple days to post more, but I can't stop. (not sure what Tim is doing here)

Here Laurie and I are doing the Titanic pose.

A Sneak Peak

Oh my gosh are we having a good time. I finally found internet. I was having withdrawals. On the ship we had no cells or anything. It was nice but I was itchin to blog. This first picture is at the Captain's Dinner. The food was excellent, just a little bit too much silverware for us. We were never sure what to use. If you didn't know, they would pick up the right one and practically put it in your hand. A little intimidating for us Wisconsonites.

WThis beach is in the Bahamas. We only spent an hour or so here. We had to catch our bus back so we didn't get left by the ship. The waves got pretty big and got us wet unexpectedly. I am not real sure what was going on here.

Finally posed for a picture.

This is on the ship. We didn't even do our hair these days cause this is what it looked like all the time. (notice the yummy drink in my hand) I have hundreds more. I will post a couple here and there as I can. We are in Orlando right now. We have to take the semi to the office, then rent a car and head to Jodi's house for a couple days.

Bon Voyage

shore_excursions_2

Here it is the night before I leave. My bags are gone with Brian in the semi. I have just a few last minute things to put in my carry on. I think I am ready. I had to go tell Felicity and Tracy, and Andy and Casey good bye tonight. That is no fun. I miss everyone already. I want to go, really I do. But I am just such a homebody person. I love being home, love having friends and family over. Good grief, I sound like I’m never coming home. What a big baby I am. I know we will have an unbelievable time. I can’t wait for the sun, the relaxation, and of course those fruity drinks with the umbrella in them.

I am taking my laptop and will post a couple times, I hope. I can’t do any posting for the first 4 days. The cruise line or the Bahamas has no cell phone reception. Unless we want to pay $20 a minute. I’ll wait.

Hope you all have a wonderful next two weeks, and make sure it is sunny and warm here when I get back.

Love you all, and I will miss you.

Great Friends - Good Times

Thanks for being there when we needed you, and even when we didn't. Thanks for being there through the good times, and the bad. Thank you for being there to encourage our dreams, and our crazy ideas.
Thank you for catching us, before we fell down. Thank you for cheering us up, and making us laugh. Thank you for all the great memories. But most of all, thank you for being you.

Spring??

This is what we woke up to today. Yesterday was the first day of spring. Living in Wisconsin makes this not really a surprise. It will all be gone soon, right?

Happy Birthday Shasta

Looking for some advice…

IMG_0010

Ok, so here’s the deal. Deb and I are teaching a class on blogging this Saturday. We are pretty much rookies in the blog world. Do you have any helpful hints for a new blogger? What do you like? What have you learned? What are some shortcuts? Or maybe you just have some helpful advice for a person starting their own blog. We are open for any ideas. I read a quote the other day: “Your blog is only as big as the things you give away.” Ouch, we don’t have any giveaways. I guess maybe that will be my next step in the blog world. Please leave me a helpful hint.

BTW, the picture is of my chair in the living room.

Funny Tooth

IMG_0069 IMG_0046

Check out Felicity’s tooth on these pictures. She has the two on the bottom, but then she got this one on the side on top. I think it is so funny. I never saw a baby get that tooth before the two front ones. We call it her fang. Grandpa loves to play with her and make her laugh.

Looks like I need some of Connie’s anti-wrinkle paste. I guess that comes with the Grandma role. If that’s what it takes to have her, I’ll take the stupid wrinkles.

Windows Live Writer

After reading Lynn’s post on planting I decided to check out this program. I just did a search on “Windows Live Writer” and downloaded the program. It is free and really easy to download. You have to set up your blog within the program but it will walk you right through it. There are a lot of options and you can put your pictures wherever you want to within the post. IMG_2242

Check it out, you will love it.

How does this happen?

Have you ever had one of those days when you intend to get so much done and then nothing gets done? I do. Today Patti picked me up and we headed for town to buy the paint for her cabinets. Our first stop was to stop and pick up Megan. She wasn't ready, so we wait at her place while she finishes. Next we stop at Julee's to check out her cabinets. We figured out what Patti was going to do, that took half an hour. Then of course we end up staying there and talking for a while. So off we go to town to buy paint. We get into town and Megan and I are hungry. We go to Subway. Another 20 minutes gone. Then as long as we are right there, we go to Maurices. Another half hour gone. Off we go to Walmart to pick up a "few" thiings. After not finding what we went for, and a few things we didn't go for, another hour gone. Well, let's check out some paint. Off we go to Hardware Hank. Nope, no stain there that Julee told us to get. Patti couldn't decide on a color either??? Let's check out Klingbeils. We get there and they are ready to close the doors. The kind man helps us with the primer and a brush. No time to pick out paint. We grab every sample paint brochure they have. The colors are more true when you're at home anyway, right? Then we head back up to the grocery store. You can't get groceries first, they will either melt or get too warm in the car. In the meantime, Chris calls Patti like 10 times asking her to pick up something else for him! We finally leave the grocery store and head home with our meager supplies for the cabinets. A day wasted? Not really. We had a good time anyway.
By the way, I know the picture of Felicity has nothing to do with this post. I just don't like to post without a pic. And besides, she's too cute not to put her on here.

Wild Olive Tees

I came across this website. They have some cool tshirts. They have a picture with a saying on the front and a bible verse on the back. I love them and will be getting a couple for sure. You can check out the website by clicking on the link in the left column of my blog. Check them out.

Packing

Here I am again with not much going on here. Making lists and checking them twice for what to take on vacation. I always overpack. Brian is actually taking our suitcases with him in his semi. He is meeting us down there. That means I can fill the suitcases as full as I want and not have to pay the $100 for an overweight limit suitcase. That is sooooo cool. I'm just not sure what to take. The cruise has a Captain's Dinner and that is formal. Dress clothes. (check) Hopefully it will be warm enough to swim at one point. Swimsuit. (check) Then I get lost. I think I need 20 pairs of shorts, jeans, about a hundred tops. What's a girl to do? Then of course you always buy clothes while you're gone and end up bringing home most of what you took, unworn. All that work and planning down the tubes. Am I thinking too hard? Do you pack enough for every day you will be gone? Or do you plan on buying something there? Will we do laundry? Oh well, I know I will over pack, always do.

Kylee

Kylee was waiting for Brian to take her outside. She went and pulled this hat out of the bench. She was patiently watching Scooby, waiting to go outside. I love to take these close up pictures, she sure doesn't mind either. She never did get to go outside. Freezing rain started coming down. Waiting for spring.

Patti Needs Help

Patti is working on a makeover for her kitchen and looking for advice. Take a minute and check out her post and give your advice. She also has a poll in the right column for you to vote.

Time for an Oldie

I couldn't come up with anything to post today, so I went into my oldies again. I came across this, our wedding party. Wow have styles changed in 26 years. Those dresses were the coolest back then, all the colors of the rainbow. You can't see on this picture but the guys wouldn't wear the shiny shoes that came with the tuxes. They all wore their own cowboy boots. I bet the rest of you have some awesome wedding photos too. How bout you show the rest of us?

Still Addicted

I got a new coffee mug for myself. You'll never guess what color. I didn't even think twice about it until this morning when I poured a cup of coffee. Then I realized: "Oh my gosh, it is red!" As if that should really surprise me. Then I noticed the new pitcher I got a couple of weeks ago....oh oh it is red too. As you can tell, I never did join that red lovers anon class.
Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead tonight!

Thinking of Andy

We have have had a tough morning today. Andy's dog, Tink, went to doggie heaven. It was a very hard decision for him. He loved her so much. For any of you that have known Tink, you know she was always the topic of conversation while sitting on the front porch in the summer. Everyone loved her. She had her issues, but that's what made Tink special. Next time you see Andy give him a hug and let him know you are thinking of him during this tough time.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord,

Please open your gates and call St. Francis to come escort this beloved companion across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,

for she has been a faithful servant and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,

for they are doing so in love and compassion,

freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.

Help me remember the details of her life with the love she has shown me.

And grant me the courage to honor her by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well and let her know that I will always love her.

And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,

please allow her to accompany those who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of her companionship and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord, for granting me the strengthto give her to you now.

Amen.

All Dressed Up

Felicity is always dressed so cute for church. I love little girls in dresses. She has no choice yet, but hopefully she will continue to like wearing them as she gets older.
Here's her cute little shoes.

And here's the whole "outfit." Too cute.

I thought I would give my Weight Watchers update. It has been a week. I weighed in this morning and............drum roll please....................I LOST NOTHING! What's up with that? I never went over on my points. Since I have been "dieting" for a year now with the other one, I am chalking this up to: "I guess I belong this size, or even worse- I need to maybe exercise?" I have never been fond of the e word. Walking is about the extent of that for me. And of course it is way too snowy and icy and cold outside. I do have a treadmill in the basement, but what fun would that be? I think I am going to take up boxing.

Sprinkler Fun

What do we do on hot summer days without a pool?  We get out the sprinkler and have some fun!         ...
