Here in Wisconsin we have what we call Brat Frys on Fridays. They are held at the local grocery store in the parking lot. Does anyone else do these or is this just a Wisconsin thing?
We had one today for a fundraiser for our church. We got there around 8am ready and excited for the day ahead. We shopped for all our supplies, set up the grill, and were ready to roll by 10am. We were super busy for the first 4 hours or so. Then we had a two hour stretch where it slowed down. We were ok with that, we were getting a little tired by this time.
Did I mention it was 90 degrees in that parking lot? Then they have this little hut like building there to sell them out of. That thing was like an oven itself! Let's just say we needed to pass around the deodorant a few times.
What happens when you put 6 women in a hut in a scorching parking lot for 10 hours? I'll tell you. Things get a little silly. Things are said that probably didn't mean to be said. You find things out about the other girls that maybe you didn't want to know. One more thing.... if you don't have the gloves on serving the food....you might be asked to "adjust" things on the other girls that you never thought you would.
Sounds like a great time doesn't it?
It sure was. By the end of the day we were exhausted, sweaty, stinky, and smelled of grilled brats. But it was all worth it. The feeling of doing whatever you can to help out...you can't put a price on that.

You jump out of the truck, (with no jacket, wearing your Daddy's hat, and no shoes) to take a picture in the beautiful forest. Wait........
Adorable blog, gorgeous family and you sound like so much fun! Haven't had a brat in years. I'm from Illinois, right by the WI/IL stateline, but even there they have fish fry's on Fridays. So maybe it is just a WI thing.

ReplyDeleteThat was a great day. Lots of work but we were already talking about what we can do for next year. More people really should work those fundraisers - I don't think they know what they are missing. Thanks to everyone who was there - It was fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. Sounds like an awesome time. Girls can get so silly.
ReplyDeleteThey do the brat thing in Northwest Iowa too. Understand about getting silly with your friends. Sounds like fun. I enjoy your blog. It has a cheerful feel.
