Life Doesn't Get Any Better Than This

I've been away from blogging a little bit because we've been spending a lot of time with these little faces. They're cute even when they're a bit dirty.

Jack absolutely loves it outside. And some special time with Papa on the porch swing makes him pretty happy.

I'm not sure why Kylee is making that goofy face at me.

Me and the little Jack-man. Can he get any cuter?

Then of course Felicity has to take her turn. Check out that sore on her face. She fell and her teeth pretty much came through her bottom lip. OUCH!

Here she is trying to show me her owie on the inside of her mouth. It's quite a long tale when she tells the story of how it happened.

Only 4 more days and we will have a third grandbaby here with us. We can't wait!

A Little More of Our Trip

I thought I would share a little more of our trip to California.
This was my view most of the time. There sure is a lot of driving involved with trucking....

We did get to rent a car for a couple days and have some fun time. I loved Pier 39. The shops are so much fun. It was terribly crowded the day we went but I didn't care. Crowds don't deter me from shopping.

We stopped to tour the Winchester Mystery House. I absolutely loved this place. If you haven't heard about it I suggest you search it online and read up on it. It was so weird, yet interesting.

Then we were back in the truck. Coming from such a small town with only a few stop lights, this traffic always amazes me.

This part of the trip home was one of my favorites. The landscape was absolutely beautiful. I took way too many pictures through here and they all look the same.
Gorgeous.

We made a pitstop at Devil's Canyon. The parking lot was small and we didn't really know what we were stopping at. We walked down the trail to the edge and this is what we saw. I know the picture doesn't do it ANY justice. It was truly breathtaking.

We saw this little guy when we were there.

Then we turned and this big guy was standing there looking at us. He actually started walking towards us for quite a ways before he finally took off up the hill.

Back on the road again. Only about a day and a half of driving left until we are home.

Five Question Friday

I am going to switch it up today. You see, I've had an interesting computer week. When I returned from our trip my laptop had totally died. UGH! Then my desktop was acting all goofy and I took it into the doctor and haven't gotten it back yet. I am currently using my tiny 7" netbook. It gets the job done but all of my photos are on my desktop.

I have always read Mama M.'s Five Question Friday but have never played along. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give it a shot.

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions, answer them, then make sure to link up. If you are "blogless", feel free to answer the comments below!

Questions for Friday, August 20th:

1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?
Everyone in our family has (had) nicknames growing up. A lot of them make no sense and are not even a real word. I think my older brothers were the genuineness behind the names. My nickname was "Doody." What kind of a name is that?

2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?
I am number 7 of 8. I have five older brothers, one older sister, and one younger sister. Needless to say I didn't have to work in the barn on our dairy farm while growing up. The boys did that. My older sister got stuck with helping with the housework and taking care of me and my younger sister. Which means the two of us got off pretty easy. I'm sure my siblings would agree to that.

3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?
Oh my, this is tough. I don't really know actors. He is a pretty talented guy, I think he could probably do it himself.

4. What is currently your favorite song?
"Why Don't We Just Dance" by Josh Turner. I also love his song "Your Man". It's the super deep voice that gets me.

5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?
    Um, yes, A LAPTOP!

They're BAAACCCKKK

Our visiting bees came back again. This time they invaded this tiny tree and made his branch sag right over. We called the "bee guy" but by the time he got here they were gone......

A Little Time Away

Where have I been you ask? Well let me tell you......

Two weeks ago I decided to hop on a plane and fly to California to spend some time with this guy.

He picked me up at the airport and we hopped into this little truck.

The first couple days we had to actually "work" but then we rented a car and drove around California for the next three days.

We drove up to San Francisco and I got to see my first trolly car. All that kept going through my head was:

"Rice-a-roni....the San Francisco treat"

As you can tell, this was the first trip to California for this sheltered Wisconsin girl.

Of course we had to go across the bridge. It sure is hard to take a good picture of it when you are actually on it!

We headed north on this extremely small and winding road. It actually made us both a little car sick from the constant curves.

But it was all worth it because it lead us to these. If you ever get to northern California you MUST go see the Redwoods.

They were awesome and we didn't even see the really huge ones.

And of course you can't go to California without stopping at one of these.

I have so many more pictures to share and I will show you more as the week goes on.

Having Fun and Missing Blogland

This past week I've been missing here in blogland. I had some posts scheduled and have been able to read your comments but haven't been able to visit all of you like I want to. I'm off spending time with Brian. I will post some pics next week and fill you all in on the fun things we are doing. I miss you and will be back soon.

This time I got her.....

Front Porch Sittin'

I'd like to introduce you to our front porch. In the short summer that we get here in Wisconsin this is where we spend all our free time. We start our day with coffee out here in the morning and many times end the day here with friends and family.

It's one of my favorite places in the world.

People beep and wave all the time when they see us sittin' here. We don't usually know who they are but that doesn't matter. That's what folks do around here.

Sometimes I wonder if they think that's ALL we do......

'Cause where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch sittin'
Where I come from tryin' to make a livin'
Workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from....

Teeth, Toes, and Thighs

Friday night little Jack-man got to spend the night while his Daddy and Mommy went to spend some time together. He is the sweetest little guy ever. He got two teeth on July 4th at four months old! After many unsuccessful attempts, I finally got a picture of those two little razor sharp chompers.

I love the little dimples in his hands.

And of course baby feet are totally adorable.

I had to take his pajama pants off and show you his little legs.
I bet you just want to squeeze them.

We had so much fun in our short 45 minutes before he fell sound asleep in his swing.

Sprinkler Fun

What do we do on hot summer days without a pool?  We get out the sprinkler and have some fun!         ...
