Tomahawk's Fall Ride

Every year we try to get this one last ride in for the season. It is always held in September and the weather is very unpredictable at this time of year. I am a fair weather rider and don't usually ride when it's cooler out but I usually suck it up and go up north every fall for this huge biker's weekend. When we started out it was a bit chilly for me.  I was hoping the colors of the trees would be further along than they were.

But it is worth it once we get there because the number of bikes in this tiny town is unbelievable. The population of Tomahawk is 3,770 people. I was told there were around 40,000 bikes there for the weekend.

This year the event raised $78,000.00 for the MDA.

What a beautiful fall day it was and what an awesome time we had together.

The Joy of Jack

This little man brings so much joy into our home. Everyone says Jack looks just like his Papa, what do you think?

Who ever knew you could love a child as much as you love your own children?

Look Out Robin Hood

Waaaayyyy back in High School I took archery and loved it. I was pretty good at it too. Then a few years later I started shooting with one of Brian's old bows. I really liked it and again was pretty good at it. Then he sold the bow. I think he was just worried that I was going to become a better shot than him.

Well about 20 more years went by and this past Christmas he bought me my own pink camouflage bow. We finally got it out the other day since bow season for deer started this past Saturday. Even though I don't actually hunt like the rest of my family I love that I get to spend the time with them while they target practice.

Check out the concentration...........

And release..........

I don't ever wear hats but the sun was in my eyes and my hair kept blowing in my face. I think I look like a dork in a hat.

And after practicing for a while, I can do this.

We start them young around here. At first Kylee was practicing with us with her little bow and arrow with the suction cups on them. She was doing alright but it's just not the same. Brian and I bought her a real bow the other day. It's a little tough for her to pull back but she's pretty determined to do it.

(For those of you who don't know Kylee, we have day-cared for her since she was a tiny baby. She is definitely like one of our own.)

And the release.....

She hit the target!

Now all on her own. I love the expression on her face.

She hits the target most of the time but her bow isn't strong enough for them to go into it. They just bounce off. She doesn't care, she just loves shooting with the rest of us big people. Someday she will be a hunter like her Mommy.

Sticky Poopin' Frogs

Say hello to one of our newest visitors. This summer there has been a whole group of them that hang out right outside our front door. They have those sticky little feet and hang right on our siding.

And on the window screen.

This big fat guy just hangs out on the ground. I guess he doesn't have those sticky feet.

This guy perches himself on top of the light. The worst part of all of them hanging out is they POOP everywhere! I didn't know frogs had such big poop. Our siding is now full of it.....it's so gross. I am totally ready for this clan of frogs to move on to a new home.

We sure have our issues with unwanted critters. First all the bees, and now we are being invaded by sticky, poopin' frogs.

Sugar and Spice

That's what little girls are made of....

Great Grandpa, my dad, came to see Hadalye at the hospital. He's not too into babies but Tracy plopped her right into his arms and he didn't have a choice on holding her.

Is there anything much cuter than tiny baby feet?

Ready to leave the hospital.

She is quite the little sleeper. She even slept through her first bath at home.

I still haven't gotten back into my normal routine around here. Kylee (the little girl I daycare for) started kindergarten this year and so for the first time in 5 years I am again childless for the day. But I sure don't have trouble filling my days with our three precious grandchildren. We are so blessed to have them living next door so I get to see them everyday. I just can't get enough of them. Any grandmom's with me on this?

Meet Hadalye

I'm so excited to introduce you all to little Hadalye Kay. She was born Friday morning at 11:44 am. She is 7.7 lbs and 19 3/4 inches tall. She is just a few minutes old in this picture.

Felicity was so excited to go meet her baby sister.

So precious.

Oh the best friends they will be.

I don't think there's anything better than having grandchildren.
They all melt my heart.

We can't forget Jack. It's his 6 month birthday today!!
