A Little Time Away

Where have I been you ask? Well let me tell you......

Two weeks ago I decided to hop on a plane and fly to California to spend some time with this guy.

He picked me up at the airport and we hopped into this little truck.

The first couple days we had to actually "work" but then we rented a car and drove around California for the next three days.

We drove up to San Francisco and I got to see my first trolly car. All that kept going through my head was:

"Rice-a-roni....the San Francisco treat"

As you can tell, this was the first trip to California for this sheltered Wisconsin girl.

Of course we had to go across the bridge. It sure is hard to take a good picture of it when you are actually on it!

We headed north on this extremely small and winding road. It actually made us both a little car sick from the constant curves.

But it was all worth it because it lead us to these. If you ever get to northern California you MUST go see the Redwoods.

They were awesome and we didn't even see the really huge ones.

And of course you can't go to California without stopping at one of these.

I have so many more pictures to share and I will show you more as the week goes on.

  3. I love this post. Welcome to the state I now call home. I am amazed by the diversity of California. I agree with Tara's comment above - if you just see LA, it's not that impressive, but there are some gorgeous SD and Orange County beach spots that are off the beaten path, and Northern Cal is just full of natural wonders. Your SF photos are pretty amazing with the fog and all that. Lucky YOU!!

  6. I'm lovin th comments from this post! So cool you were able to make it out this way! I've lived here all my life and love it! San Fran is awesome and is about a 6 hr drive north of where I am. I live on the Central Coast and just love, love it! The beach is awesome and I dont't think I'd want to live anywhere else.

LOL about the windy road. That must have been the 1, right? That road gets me sick every time too!

  15. Little truck! I'd hate to see what one of your big trucks look likes. The amazing thing to me about San Francisco was the fog! I mean, I had never seen fog so thick and last into the day as it did there! I'm glad you were able to make the trip and have such a good time!
